‘Tis the Season for Self-Care in Langley

December 18, 2020

Self Care

It goes without saying that 2020 has been a tricky one to navigate, and now with winter upon us in British Columbia and the wet and cold weather settling in, there’s no better time than right now to make your self-care a top priority and turn your Latimer Village home in a calm and welcoming oasis this season!

Here are our tips to help you make your self-care routine this season merry and bright:

‘Scent’ the mood: Believe it or not, essential oils are powerful. With scents like calming lavender or invigorating eucalyptus, aromatherapy carries a lot of psychological benefits and can enhance the experience of any room in your Latimer Village home.

Unwind in the bath: There is nothing better like a hot soak in the tub with one of your favourite bath bombs or bath salts to help soothe your aching muscles or warm you up from the cold. If baths aren’t your thing, a hot shower can help lower your blood pressure, relieve any muscle tension, and improves your blood circulation.

Get active: We know, the sun rising later and setting earlier does not exact bode well with any of our exercise goals, but believe it or not, physical movement is vital to self-care. Roll out the yoga mat in your spacious living room, stretch out your limbs, and take advantage of the wide breadth of completely free and easy to follow workout videos on YouTube.

Do something for someone else: While we’ve had to rethink get-togethers and gatherings this year, we’re fortunate enough to live in a time where there is no shortage of ways to keep connected with loved ones. Rather than texting a friend or family member, hop on a video call with them. Consider sending a meal to someone through a meal delivery service. Doing something for someone else makes us feel good.

Get some vitamin D: There’s a lot of temptation to stay inside now that a lot of us are working from home, so that means that more times than not, the only sunlight we’re getting is from our windows. Staying inside all day can unfortunately contribute to poor moods. Layer up and get outside; Latimer Village is a stunning community that has plenty to see. If you can’t get outside, check out a light box and keep it close to you while inside.
