Five Thriving Industries in the Langeley Township

Langley Township has become one of Metro Vancouver’s hottest land markets.

The Township of Langley is a thriving, business-friendly community centrally located on the Fraser Valley, 10 km southeast of Langley City. According to Statistics Canada, the Township of Langley has more farms than any other municipality in British Columbia – 1,292 to be exact. Langley Township is one of the most film-friendly municipalities in BC’s Lower Mainland. During the 2017–2018 fiscal year, the film and TV sector contributed $3.4 billion to BC’s economy. Films produced in Langley Township include Air Bud, Daydream Nation, and The Nine Lives of Christmas.

With wineries, restaurants, and rolling hills, tourism brings $30 million in annual revenue to Langley Township. The community is home to 20 accommodation properties and nearly 300 food and beverage service establishments.

Air transportation

With up to 100,000 rotary and fixed-wing traffic movements per year, Langley Regional Airport is one of Canada’s busiest airports. More than 50 aviation businesses operate on site offering everything from chartered helicopter flights to aerospace parts manufacturing, and maintenance.

Food and beverage processing

More than half of all B.C. food processing companies are located in and around Langley Township. The region is known for its large agricultural land base and close proximity to affluential markets and distribution networks.

Many businesses move to Langley Township for proximity to skilled employees, lower overhead costs and room to grow. With growth projections expected to double by 2040, the Township was also recently ranked as a “Top British Columbia Investment Community,” according to Western Investor and the Real Estate Investment Network (REIN).
